Hobart
…and a little bit of Melbourne. Last year we joined some friends in Hobart for Dark Mofo and I just never got around to posting photos, mainly because I didn’t take as many as I have on past trips. And now looking back I regret it. It’s been nice to look back on the last time we were in Melbourne, Sydney, Japan and reminisce - considering we don’t know when we’ll be able to travel again (overseas especially). So I needed this reminder to document our lives a bit more regularly. I think part of me went through this phase of being in the moment instead of looking through the lens all the time - lovely as that is - I cherish these images so much, and I have an awful memory.
So here we were in Melbourne last year, a quick stop over on our way to Tasmania. Only a few snaps before the stunning view in Hobart from our Airbnb. We did a day trip out to Port Arthur, stopping at McHenry’s Distillery and Port Arthur Lavender Farm on the way back.
Initially we had plans to do a bit of a hike up Mt Wellington but opted to drive and just wander around instead. It actually wasn’t as cold as I imagined it would be - I mean - it was freezing but not as much as I thought.
We spent a day at Mona which absolutely blew my mind. It’s worth taking a second trip. A walk through Dark Path and couple of nights at the Winter Feast before or after shows. Overall such an epic experience - albeit a strange one.
Some honourable mentions that I should have been taking photos of
Society Salamanca - Gin Bar - The service here was second to none (but maybe that’s because our bartender was from Perth!) and the gin selection is off the charts!
Audrey Coffee - delicious coffee!
Pigeon Whole Bakers - Huge selection of baked goods
Bury Me Standing - Bagels - all the damn bagels!
Pigeon Hole - super tasty breakfast - not to be confused with Pigeon Whole Bakers above.
Berta - another delicious breakfast spot.
